Son of John Adam Kifer and Susannah Drumheller, husband of Margaret Dow Thompson. Served in the Civil War Co. H. 155th PVI Source: Clarion Democrat - April 10, 1919 Kifer, Joseph Myers -- April 10, 1919 - Joseph Myers Kifer died on Monday evening, March 31st, at the residence of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Donaldson, Johnstown, Pa., in his 80th year. Funeral services were held on Wednesday evening at the Donaldson home by Rev. George Dono Brooks, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Interment on Thursday afternoon in Uniondale Cemetery, Northside, Pittsburg. Joseph Myers Kifer was born in Reidsburg, Clarion County, Pa., on August 3, 1838, and served in Co. H, 155th Regt. Penna. Vol. Infantry, from August 1862 until after the surrender of Lee, under Col. Edward Allen. He was wounded at Petersburg, Va. The deceased and Margaret D. Thompson of Greenville, Clarion Co., were married in September 1870. Mrs Kifer survives her husband with the following children: Mrs Jesse Wilson, Knox; C. E. Kifer, Grove City; M.O. Kifer, Ashland, KY; Mrs Kathryn Reese, Aspinwall and Mrs. Ruth Donaldson, Johnstown. He was an upright, honorable and patriotic citizen, a loving husband and a father, a noble friend and neighbor, and is revered by all who knew him. Many friends in his native county mourn his passing.
