Bio
Johnsey Cowan Hedrick passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2009 after a lengthy battle with cancer, at her home in Irving. It is with great sadness and joy that we let her go to the loving arms of our Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Johnsey was born on January 18, 1937 to the parents of Robert Andrew Cowan and Lena Rivers Wheeler in Nobility, Texas. She was the 10th child of 15 Children. She was named after her sister Mildred's 2nd grade school teacher Miss Ruby Johnsey. She was raised on a farm in Fannin County Texas and Graduated High School in Trenton, Texas in 1955. She married Gerald Franklin Hedrick on February 23, 1958 in Durant Oklahoma and again on March 25, 1958 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas. She was a long time resident of Irving and a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Ms. Hedrick was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Hedrick, her sisters, Mildred Rivette, Melva Gean Meazell, Bobby Jo Hiser, Patsy Hefley, Betty Grounds, and her brothers Tom Cowan and Bud Cowan. She is survived by her children, Loren Hedrick and Lisa Hedrick, and her granddaughters, Sarah Hedrick and Erin Hedrick, whom she loved with all her heart, her sisters Jackie Rocha, Barbara Dockery, Linda Baker, Judy Cowan, and Dortha Ray Mullis and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with recital of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday September 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Calvary Hill Cemetery North Chapel. May the perpetual light shine upon her.
