Durl was born at Olympus to Ollie Earl Lankford and Edna Frances Benningfield. He married Charlene Smith on Aug. 30, 1952 in Childress. Survivor include his wife; two daughters, Durlene Worthington and Brenda Lankford both of Childress; two sisters, Stella Lankford and Earlene Elliott both of Childress; a brother Lynn Lankford of Childress.
