Sanger Merchant Sr., 69, a resident of Elberta, died June 5 at a local hospital. Funeral services were held June 7 at 2 p.m. from Elberta First Baptist Church with the Rev. Virgil Payne officiating. Interment followed in Wynn Cemetery, Summerdale. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Merchant, Elberta; seven sons, Darrell Merchant, Wayne Merchant, Garry Merchant, Dennis Merchant and Tommy Merchant, all of Elberta, Sanger Merchant Jr., Lillian, and Terry Merchant, Summerdale; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Roberts and Mrs. Mina Clopton, both of Summerdale, and Mrs. Sara Roberts, Foley; two brothers, Andrew Merchant, Summerdale, and Buddy Merchant, Kansas; 20 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were by Bayview Funeral Home, Foley.
