Born the daughter of T. Ben Thompson (1871 - 1944) and Martha V. Carroll (1871 - 1952), she married Robert Randolph Mathis (1885 - 1973) and they were the parents of Clara Cliftene Mathis (1919 - 2007), later Mrs. James Lee Fleet.
