Bio
Leona Weaver, 93, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Leona was born May 29, 1921, in Temple to Katherina and Tomas Talasek. Leona Vlasta Talasek grew up in Rosenberg. At the age of 18 she moved to Fort Worth to work at Consolidated Aircraft (Lockheed). She married Walter Weaver in 1943; they made their home in River Oaks. Leona and Walter were longtime members of River Oaks United Methodist Church. She loved making crafts for the church's Fall Festival, crocheting beautiful blankets, traveling in their motor home and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter, Blythe Weaver. Survivors: Sister, Binnie Babovec; daughter, Peggy Atherton and husband, Gary; son, Barry Weaver and wife, Bonnie; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. "Granny" will be greatly missed.
