Bio

Babe enlisted in the Air Force November 1, 1948 at Corpus Christi. He served 1948-49 and attained the rank of corporal. He was recalled January 18, 1951 (during the Korean War) and served in the Air Force Reserve, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was discharged October 31, 1955. Babe was a lifelong resident of the Corpus Christi area, and was active in farming all of his life. He was active in many civic and agribusiness organizations, including the Nueces County 4-H, Coastal Bend Youth City, and the Nueces County Junior Livestock Association. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet, Texas. Babe lived in Clarkwood, Texas for many years. He was liked by everyone who knew him and was widely regarded as the favorite of his generation of Allens.
