Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), March 10, 1938, p. 1, col. 6 PASSED AWAY MARCH 1 Funeral Services Held at Abie Church Friday Morning. Frank Juranek, 78 years of age, farmer in Butler county for many years, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, at St. Mary's hospital Columbus, where he had been for a week. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Juranek was born in Czechoslovakia, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Juranek, Sr., and in 1872 came to America with his parents, brothers and sisters, the family locating in Butler county, near Edholm. He was married to Miss Anna Cherney at Bellwood. They resided in Bellwood vicinity, Mr. Juranek engaging in farming, and moved near Schuyler several years ago. Six daughters were born to them, of whom one daughter, Julia, has passed on. The surviving daughters are Mrs. Frank Hladky and Miss Agnes Juranek of Central City, Mrs. Charles Merta of Cushing, and Mrs. Arent Christensen and Mrs. Alta Wilsey of Omaha. Mrs. Juranek died in 1900. Besides his daughters, Mr. Juranek leaves four grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters, namely, Charles, John and Leopold Juranek, Mrs. Anton Brezina and Miss Rose Juranek of Bellwood, Henry Juranek of O'Neill, Mrs. Joseph Kavan of Schuyler and Mrs. Joseph Mazanec of Garrison. Funeral services were held at Sts. Peter's and Paul's Catholic church at Abie at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning in charge of Rev. Alcuin Kasny. Singing was by Mr. Juranek's sisters, and the pallbearers were his brothers. Burial was in the Abie cemetery.
