Bio

Clara Hale Clara J. Hale, 85, went to be with the lord on Oct. 31, 2014. Clara was born on June 30, 1929 in DeKalb, TX to Joe and Elizabeth Hancock. Clara married Clive Hale on Dec. 22, 1944. Clara was a housewife and a mother of five children — one boy and four girls. Clara always looked after her family and never turned anyone away. She was always taking care of her siblings when they were ill and showed her family what unconditional love truly was. Clara is survived by her three daughters, Brenda Veal of Sweetwater, Vickie Creek and husband Gary Tarpley of Abilene and Sonja Hale of Abilene. Clara had 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Seth Peeples, Austin Kamer, Robert Kamer, Glenn Kamer, James (Jimbob) Blackshear, Lewis Kamer and Mikey Blackshear. Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Elizabeth Hancock; all of her siblings, brother Grady Hancock, Emma (PeeWee) Cooper, Irene Gill, Ethel Mayhew, Jo Land, Grace Cavitt, Berta Woodard and Bonnie Cross; her son, Roger Hale; daughter, Imma Jean Price; son-in-law, James Veal; grandson, Travis Wright; and a great-grandchild. Memorial services for Clara will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ with Pastor Jeremy Thompson officiating. A family viewing at will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday at McCoy Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Sweetwater Cemetery. Clara will always be with us in spirit, gone but never forgotten. We love and miss you but we know that she is now stronger than she ever has been because she has been sent home.
