Bio

Funeral services for Walter Effard Shupp were held Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the Gartman View Church with Rev. Burton Hughes officiating, assisted by Rev. H.H. Tumbleson and Rev. J. E. Alexander. Music was rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jones, Bill Elliott and Hobert Cox, accompanied by Mrs. Maudie Creek at the piano. Pallbearers were Allan Hughes, Danny Bibby, Rex Rhodes, Mike Shupp, Bennie Scott, Curtis Sadberry and Rodney Johnson. Mr. Shupp is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leala Pearl Shupp of the home; two sons, Gathern Murdell Shupp of Orla and Roger Dale Shupp of De Leon; six daughters, Mrs. Azalee (Azilee)Gilchrest of Chicago, Mrs Barbara Audene Hughes of Ft. Worth, Dolly Lau (Lou)Rhodes of Ft Worth, Mrs Juanda Marie Bibby of Grandview, Mrs. Betty Ann Heathcock of Port Gibson, Miss. and Mrs. Laqueta Eevan Hudson of Arlington; one brother, Elmo Curtis Shupp of Midland; five sisters, Mrs. Sue Lauell Graham, Mrs Velma Quincy Wilson, Mrs. Louise Paulene Bettinger, and Mrs. Ina Pearl Robertson, all of Waco and Mrs. Arbelle Lucille Lewis of De Leon; twenty-five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was born March 14, 1902 in Gonzales and passed away August 12 in the Comanche Hospital at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 28 days. He attended Gartman View Church and had lived in Comanche County all his life. Interment was in the Downing Cemetery with Nabors Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
