Bio
Joseph J. Frank was born on 26 December 1877, in Helena, Scott County, Minnesota, to Jacob and Mary Dvorak Frank, II. Four years after his birth, the family moved to Renville County, on a farm south of Olivia, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He married Mary Bessie Bouda, on 19 November 1900, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. Joseph and Mary were the first couple to apply for a marriage license in the new Renville Court House in Olivia, Minnesota. They would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary, in just nine days, on 19 November 1960. Joseph J. Frank, a farmer from southwest of Olivia, died at the age of 82, on Saturday afternoon, 8 October 1960, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. He died from a heart condition that he had for the two years prior to his death. Joseph was survived by his wife, Mary, and 11 children, Andrew, Joe, Art, and Clarence Frank of Olivia; Madeline (Steve) Shubert of Granite Falls; Clara (Alvin) Puff of Minneapolis; Lillian (John) Schuman of Morgan; Dora (Albert) Klabunde of Clements; Della (Henry) Irlbeck of Renville; Leonard of Maynard; and Grace (Darwin) Johnson of Pacific Grove, California. One son, Peter, died on 17 January 1952. Other survivors were four brothers, Jacob, Henry, James, and John; two sisters, Rose (Joseph) Goblirsch of Vesta and Mrs. Joseph Frince of Pine City. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, 11 October, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. The Reverend Stanley Skluzacek officiated. Pallbearers were Frank Kodet, Joe Kodet, Jim Serbus, Milo Frank, Frank Macholda, and William Goblish. Joseph was buried in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota.
