Mary Etta Chaney was the daughter of Benjamin Mack and Lucy Phillips Chaney. She married Clyde William Bateman on April 14, 1921 in Van Zandt Co. TX and they had 1 son and 2 daughters. Source: Obituary MARY BATEMAN Funeral services for Mary Etta Bateman, 85, Wills Point, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Rev. W. T. McLemore officiating. Buriel was in Haven of Memories Cemetery. Mrs. Bateman died January 15 in Dallas after a long illness. She was born July 2, 1902, in Van Zandt Co., and was a lifelong resident of the Canton/Edgewood area. She was a member of the Myrtle Springs Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in farming. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bateman, and her son, Cloyde Bateman. Survivors include two daughters, Vernell McCrary, Mesquite, and Laura Faye Harris, Dallas; a brother, Homer Chaney, Marshall; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommy Baugh, M. J. Baugh, Billy Joe Baugh, Wayne Bateman, Buster Platter, Calvin Platter, Donald Platter and Paul Platter.
