When William Gordon "Gordie" Chaney was born on July 8, 1886, in Van Zandt, Texas, his father, Benjamin, was 32 and his mother, Ludie, was 18. He married Minnie Arvella Daniel on October 22, 1910, in Van Zandt, Texas. They had one child during their marriage. He died on August 2, 1961, in Van Zandt, Texas, at the age of 75 William Gordon Chaney's Texas death certificate states that he was born in Canton, Texas to Mack Chaney and Ludy Pennington. He died in Grand Saline, Van Zandt County, Texas.
