Bio

Thanks to contributor #48796369 John H. Fieldgrove, 79, of Litchfield, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist church in Ravenna. The Rev. Heidi Revelo will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. Mr. Fieldgrove was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Grand Island to John Henry and Katherine (Hetrick) Fieldgrove Sr. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served until 1945. He was stationed in the European theater in World War II. He married Louise Modesitt on Feb. 14, 1953, in Hastings. The couple lived in Litchfield. He was a farm laborer and cattle feeder most of his life. He retired in 1983. He and his son formed a trucking partnership in 2000. He was a life member of the V.F.W.D.A.V. and Blind Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Louise of Litchfield; four daughters, Beverly (Mrs. Allan) Slagle of Shelton; Doris Fieldgrove of Grand Island; Connie (Mrs. Alan) Schoenberger of Oakley, Kan. and Helen Fieldgrove of Ord; five sons, Johnny Kevin Fieldgrove and Thomas Fieldgrove, both of Grand Island; Charles Fieldgrove of Litchfield, Dick Fieldgrove of Worms and James Fieldgrove of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 31 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Kowal of California and Iona (Mrs. Rupert) Bristol of Burwell; and four brothers, Amos of Scottsdale, Ariz., Allen of Wolbach, Sherman "Mert" of Litchfield and Franklin "Bud" of Loup City. He was preceded in death by three sons; two brothers; and three sisters.
