Harvey Thomsen Harvey Thomsen, 93, of Ord died Dec. 27, 1996 at the Park Place Nursing Center in Grand Island. Funeral services were held Dec. 31 at 2 pm at the Ord Memorial Chapel in Ord. Burial was in the Ord Cemetery with the Ord Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements. Mr. Thomsen was born Jan. 14, 1903 in the Springdale Township of Valley County, Neb., to Chris and Emma (Hansen) Thomsen. He grew up on the family farm in the Springdale area. He attended rural school at Springdale Dist. #6 halfway through the eighth grade. He enjoyed school and wanted to continue, but his parents needed him on the farm. On Feb. 26, 1929 he was married to Ruth V. Covert. They farmed in the Springdale area. He seldom took time for leisure activities, but he did enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening, planting flowers, playing cards, whittling, and spending time outdoors. Survivors include his wife of Ord; one son, Leo Thomsen; three granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elvina Collins of Scotia.
