Bio

Thomas J. Osentowski, 91, of Ord died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Robert Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m., with a rosary will be at 8 p.m., Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the church. Mr. Osentowski was born on May 11, 1909, in Valley County to Philip and Josie (Ciemny) Osentowski. He was raised in northwest Valley County and went to school in the rural Valley County system. He married Gertrude Kapustka on May 21, 1935, in Elyria. They farmed in the Valley County area until 1968. They moved into Ord, where Mr. Osentowski worked at the alfalfa mill. He retired in 1970. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Geraldine Ptacnik of Bloomfield and Ruth Smith of Sargent; two sons, LaVerne of Ord and Clarence of Lincoln; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Papiernik of Ord. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Mendyk; twin great-grandsons; one sister, Dorothy Pawloski; and four brothers, Ray, Max, Anton and Aloyzy.
