Josie M. Osentowski was born January 23, 1887, near Ewing in Holt County, Nebraska, to Steve and Victoria Tomasowski Ciemny and died February 24, 1982 in the Valley County Hospital in Ord, Nebraska at the age of 95. Josie grew up on the family farm west of Elyria in Valley County where she attended rural school. She was united in marriage to Phillip Osentowski June 20, 1904 at the Boleszyn Church west of Elyria. They made their home on the farm until Phillip's death February 20, 1955. Josie moved to Ord in 1957. She had been a resident of the Parkview Village for the past seven years. Josie was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord and the Altar Society. Survivors include three sons, Anton of Genoa, and Thomas and Raymond, both of Ord; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Papiernik of Ord; 23 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; ? great grandchildren;and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Aloyzy and Max; one daughter, Dorothy Pawloski; four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 27, 1982, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord with Father Stanley Gorak Officiating. Mrs. Elsie Butak was the organist, and Myron Osentowski provided guitar and vocal music. Pallbearers were Michael Papiernik, Darwin Osentowski, LaVern Osentowski, Kenneth Osentowski, Dean Osentowski, and Galen Osentowski. Burial was in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. A rosary led by Father Stanley Gorak was recited Friday evening at 2:30 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
