Bio

Lester served in the US Army during World War II. Lester married Marjorie Lester married Lola Evelyn Wylie. Lester is the father of Thomas, Theodore, Gerald & James. ~ Lester Gertsch, 87, of Lincoln, passed away on June 19, 2014. Lester was a WWII Army veteran, he was part of the 50th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon, former Cub Master for Pack 36 and Little Chief Baseball coach. He taught first aid for the American Red Cross. Survivors include sons & daughters-in-law: Thomas & Dottie Gertsch of Dorchester, Mass., Theodore & Melina Gertsch of Gulf Shores, Ala., Gerald & girlfriend, Kami Gordon, of Lincoln, James & fiancee, Nancy Bartlett of Melbourne, Fla.; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Sisters, Alice Dietrich of Schuyler, Ellen Weller of Central City, Marion Gertsch of North Platte; brothers, Russell & Norma Gertsch of Park Ridge, Ill., Junior Gertsch of Gig Harbor, Wash. Preceded in death by parents, 1st wife, Marjorie, and 2nd wife, Lola; two brothers and one grandchild.Visitation will be 9-9 Thursday and 9-10 Friday both at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Reverend Stephanie Ahlschwede officiating. Memorials to Psoriasis Foundation. Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
