The Lincoln Star, Lincoln, NE, Tue, August 5, 1952 Polio claimed its fourth Lancaster County fatality so far this year when Mrs. Marjorie E. Gertsch, 21, 6130 Kearney, died Monday night at a local hospital. Born in Lincoln, she had lived most of her life here and was a member of the First Methodist Church at 50th and St. Paul. She was graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1949. Survivors are her husband, Lester S. Gertsch, one son, Thomas Alan, one brother, Robert L. Truitt, two sisters, Marilyn Truitt and Barbara Truitt, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Truitt, and her grandparents, Mr. Ernest A. Truitt and Mrs. Della Megee, all of Lincoln. Other polio deaths this year are: Linda Snell, 8, of Huskerville; Richard Donnelly, 5, Huskerville; and Richard Kennedy, 25, 1128 Harrison. Other recent polio cases bring the county total to 45 for the year. Twenty-nine of the reported cases were in Lincoln proper, 14 in Huskerville and two from Raymond. www.newspapers.com
