(KS) Belleville Telescope Aug. 18, 1955 Adam Zacek, oldest son of Josef and Marie Zacek, was born in Czechoslovakia December 1, 1873, and passed away at Belleville hospital, Belleville, Kan., August 1, 1955, at the age of 81 years and 8 months. With his parents when only a little child, he came to this country. The family established their residence on the Zacek homestead four miles southeast of Cuba. Here Adam grew to manhood, and here also he spent practically all his life. It was not until 1948, when on account of age and failing strength he retired to the city of Cuba, where he purchased his own home and spent his remaining days. He was a peace-loving and kind neighbor, a tender brother, always ready to help anyone in trouble or need. Neither age nor illness marred his cheerful disposition and not until about a month ago did he consider his illness serious. He was preceded in death by his mother in June, 1926, and his father in 1938; one brother, Joseph in 1944; and two sisters, Josie in 1947 and Mary in 1944. Surviving and mourning his loss are one brother, Frank Zacek of Topeka; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Shulda and Mrs. Emma Blazek of Cuba, Mrs. Stella Beneda of Clyde, and Mrs. Rose Barnett of Wichita, and many other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Zacek was a life-long member of the Z.C.B.J. lodge, whose official headquarters were at the hall southwest of Cuba, and which later merged with the stronger local lodge at Cuba. He shall be missed as a member of the Order and also as a citizen of his home city. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Cuba August 3 with the Rev. Amos Rundus in charge. Interment was in National Bohemian cemetery.
