Bio

(KS) Belleville Telescope July 30, 1964 Mrs. Joe J. Blazek Mrs. Blazek was the former Emma Zacek, the daughter of Joe and Mary Zacek. Emma was born on October 11, 1886, on her parent's farm near Cuba. She spent her childhood on her parents farm and went to school at the nearby White rural school. On September 26, 1911, she married Joseph J. Blazek and they made their home on his parents farm west of Cuba. Except for the last month of her life, at which time she and Joe had moved to their newly remodeled home in the city of Cuba, she and Joe lived on the home place. Joe and Emma raised three sons and a daughter during those many years, William, Frank, Joe and Helen. Emma and Joe led a full and happy life on the farm for their hearts were gladdened by the success of their children. One of their happiest moments was the celebration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary in September of 1961. Their life had its sad moments also because of the death of their son William who had preceded Emma in passing. Others of Emma's family who have preceded her in death are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zacek, three sisters, Josie Kasha, Mary Blazek, and Stella Beneda; two brothers, Joe and Adam Zacek and a great-grandson Kirk Blazek. Emma had suffered patiently and uncomplainingly many years with the ailment to which she succumbed, July 23, 1964 while at her home in Cuba. She was 77 years, 9 months and 12 days old at the time of her death. Her husband, Joe Blazek of Cuba, her children, Frank J. of Cuba, Joe of Fountain, Colo., and Mrs. Helen Kolman of Cuba; her sisters, Mrs. Rose Barnett of Wichita and Mrs. John Shulda of Cuba; her brother, Frank Zacek of Republic, her eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren all mourn her loss to their family circle but remember her happily as a most dedicated wife and parent. She is remembered by her neighbors as one who was always a true friend standing by in any need. She had been a member of the Z.C.B.J. Funeral services were held in the First United Presbyterian Church of Cuba, Kan., with Pastor Victor V. Victoria in charge. Interment took place at the National (Kopsa) Bohemian Cemetery.
