Bio
Vlasta Dorothy Makovy was born January 10, 1920 in West, Texas to John Urbanovsky and Josephine Sykora. Vlasta married Frank Makovy September 12, 1943. Vlasta married Frank Makovy September 12, 1943. Vlasta was a member of Christ the King Catholic Cathedral since 1970. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters of American, Pope Pius XII Court since 1961 and was honored as the oldest Catholic Daughter in 2009 with a 50 year pin for service. Vlasta loved flowers and was known as the Flower Lady at Christ the King Cathedral. Her passion was to serve the religious; priests and seminarians. For many years Vlasta wrote birthday and Christmas cards and Priest's Appreciation Day for all priests and seminarians of the diocese. Vlasta enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, the priests and the seminarians. Vlasta passed away February 23, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Survivors include her two daughters; Deborah Schuknecht of Seattle, Washington and Betty Powers of Lubbock, Texas.
