Bio
Funeral services for Gilbert "Dee" Thompson, 77, of Pitkin, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Glade Branch Baptist Church in Cravens. The Revs. J. Russell DeVore and Roy Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Drakes Fork Cemetery in Pitkin under the direction of Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Visitation will be today, Jan. 28, from 6 p.m. until time of service Thursday, Jan. 29, at the church. He died Tuersday, Jan. 27, in DeRidder. Mr. Thompson was a native of Cravens and a member of Glade Branch Baptist Church in Cravens where served as a Deacon. He retired after 30 years as a truck driver. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Winnie Thompson of Pitkin; two sons, Randy Thompson of Pitkin and Rodney Thompson of Jackson, Miss.; one daughter, Kim Smith of Siloam Springs, Ark.; three brothers, Ed Thompson of Conway, Ark., the Rev. Roy Thompson of DeRidder, and Leo Thompson of Lake Charles; one sister, Elnora Blankenship of Pitkin; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
