Middle name and year of marriage provided by Mike C. (46957743) 9/15/23. ***************************************************** George L. Stepan, 78 years old of Austin, died January 6, 1997. Mr. Stepan, formerly of Dallas, has been a resident of Austin for 13 years. The family received visitors January 8 in Cook-Walden between 5 – 7 p.m. Rosary was said following the visitation in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden at 7 p.m. Funeral services were January 9 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden at 9 a.m. with the Reverend Harold Zink officiating. Interment followed in Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, San Antonio, at 1:45 p.m. Mr. Stepan was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Veronica Stepan; his sisters, Mary and Olga Urba and Rosalie Kavinski; his brother, John Lee Stepan; his brother-in-law, Witmer Wiley; and his sister-in-law, Mildred Allen. Mr. Stepan is the son of Louis and Veronica Stepan. He was born in West, Texas on May 5, 1918. Mr Stepan attended schools in that area. He served as a S/Sgt. in World War II in El Paso., Oregon, and was in the European Theatre in Italy. Upon his discharge, he joined Genesco Shoe Stores as a member of their management team in Texas, Mississippi and California. Mr. Stepan retired in Dallas.
