Bio

Elias Gilbert Morris was born in 1843, the son of John and Rebecca Morris. He fought in the civil war with the 1st Mississippi Battalion of Sharpshooters. He married Georgia Alpha Knight on 6 January 1879 in Caldwell, Texas. They were both from Clark County, Mississippi. The couple had six children including William, Allie, Annie, Nettie, Lillie and Pearl. "He was a successful farm manager and owned two farms at Oakdale and Blackjack. He was an ordained deacon in the Baptist Church. He owned a gun and ammunition shop with a shooting gallery. Elias died of pneumonia in 1894." by daughter, Lillie Morris Rhodes.
