Fort Bend Herald, May 6, 2012: Funeral services for Rosa Lee Barnes, 91, of Rosenberg, TX, are set for 2:00 PM Monday, May 7, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, 1400 Radio Lane, Rosenberg, TX, 77471, with Rev. Rhonda Detenbeck officiating. Burial will follow in Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX. Visitation will be 5-7:00 PM Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471. Rosa Lee Barnes passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 3, 2012. She was born on September 27, 1920 in Needville, TX. Rosa Lee was the oldest of 5 children born to William H. Wieghat and Martha Tielke Wieghat. She grew up there and then moved to Houston where in 1944 she met the love of her life, John D. Barnes. After the birth of their son, Dwain, they moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina. After returning to Rosenberg in 1955, she has been a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Rosenberg. Rosa Lee was devoted to her family and friends. She was a skilled seamstress and owned a fabric store in Rosenberg for many years. She also worked in the clothing department at the Richmond State School. She is survived by her son, Dwain Barnes and wife, Lynn; grandsons, Bret Barnes and wife, Sarah, Chad Barnes and wife, Jenina; and granddaughter, Christen Barnes; two great grandsons, Trenton and Korbin Barnes; sisters, Lily Bishop, Benita Walzel and husband, Gilbert, and Leona Griffith; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wieghat; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Barnes; brother, Lawrence Wieghat; and friend, Edward Kaminski.
