Fort Bend Herald, October 13, 2009: Elsie Anna Zwahr Jine, age 89 departed peacefully at her home on October 11, 2009. Elsie was born August 13, 1920 in Berlin, Texas to Kurt Albert and Alma Franke Zwahr. She was a faithful member of Needville United Methodist Church from the time of her marriage to Henry Schonert in 1941 until her death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m., October 14, 2009 at Needville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. in the Chapel of Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Elsie is survived by James J. Jine Sr., her husband of 27 years, daughter, Virginia Lathem and husband Kenneth of Sugar Land, daughter LaVerne Davis of Richmond, brother, Alwin Zwahr of Needville, sister, Ella Flentge of Marlin, sister-in-law, AnNell Zwahr of Brenham, eight grandchildren, Krik Gray and wife Tina of Newburg, PA, Cindy Gray Lopez and husband Edward of Mountain City, Bryce Gray of Mountain City, Donald Gray and wife Lisa on Needville, Gina Rogers and husband Todd of Sugar Land, Michael Davis and wife Ana of Cedar Park, Timothy Davis and wife Laura of Olathe, KS, Rev. Kimberly Spellman and husband Rev. Mark of Olathe, sixteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Anton Schonert, her husband of 39 years, daughter, Vera Mae Gray and husband Billy Gray, sister, Erna Weckworth, brothers, Reinhardt, Walter, Herbert, Albert and Bruno Zwahr. Elsie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She lived most of her adult life on her farm in Fairchild Village. She enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing. She was a wonderful cook and loved preparing for the holidays and celebrations. She enjoyed traveling, dining out and spending time with family and friends. Her three daughters and their families were the delight of her life. She was loved by all who knew her. Pallbearers are, Kenny Zwahr, Bud Reneau, Jimmy Loewe, Allen Zwahr, Clark Flentge, and Joe Turner. Honorary pallbearers are Kirk Gray, Bryce Gray, Donald Gray, Michael Davis, Timothy Davis, Gene Jine, Allen Rosenbaum and Jimmy Jine Jr. The family requests memorials are made to Needville United Methodist Church, 8606 Church Street, Needville, Texas 77461.
