Bruno O. Zwahr, 83, husband of An Nell (Haevischer) Zwahr, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008 in Brenham. Mr. Zwahr was born June 13, 1925 to Kurt and Alma (Franke) Zwahr in the Klump Community of Washington County. He was baptized September 14, 1925 by Pastor Wm. Utesch in Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, and confirmed there on August 25, 1940 also by Pastor Utesch. He attended Klump School and Blinn College. On March 27, 1955, he was married to An Nell Haevischer at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin by Pastor Raymond Wolf. Bruno was a retired painter and paper hanger. Survivors include his wife, An Nell Zwahr of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Joseph Turner of Brenham; grandchildren: Erica and Kenneth Farmer, Jared Campbell and Ashley Steele, Joey and Brittany Turner, Kristy Turner and Justin Allen, Danny Turner, and a granddaughter of the heart, Gretchen Galle; great-grandchildren: Taylor Lane and Payton Renee Farmer, Kenley and Joseph Turner, Quentin Mills, Tristan and Katryna Allen; brother Alwin Zwahr of Fairchild; sister and brother-in-law Elsie and Jim Jine of Fairchild, and sister, Ella Flentge of Marlin, sister-in-law, Dellie Mae Herrmann of Brenham, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Dale Zwahr; parents, Kurt and Alma Zwahr; father and mother-in-law, Fritz and Wela Haevischer; brothers: Reinhardt, Walter, Herbert, and Albert Zwahr; sister, Erna Weckwerth, four brothers-in-law, and five sisters-in-law. Mr. Zwahr was a veteran of WWII, serving from January 1945 to November, 1946, and was stationed overseas one year at Inchon, Korea, serving in Company E. 592 Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment. He was a lifelong member of Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin and of the American Legion. Funeral services for Bruno Zwahr will be held Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin with Rev. Bill Mosley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Herbert Zwahr, Kenhardt Zwahr, Charles Zwahr, Clark Flentge, Rudolph Vogler, Bud Reneau, Jimmy Loewe, and Harley Zwahr. Honorary pallbearers are all other nephews and nieces, as well as Mark Knipstein and Connie Krueger. Memorials may be directed to Eben Ezer Lutheran Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
