Bio
My dear cousin passed away this Easter morning. She will be missed greatly. She is with Doug now and she will be happy, she called him the love of her life. During their life they raise up one son, had 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They fished the river behind the house and in early times floated the river for a good time. She loved watching the birds at the feeders and the martins in their gourd birdhouses. She and her husband Doug could raise anything, garden, flowers and she made indian crafts and arrangements with gourds. She loved going to craft shows seeing long time friends, trading and making money from the things they had raised and made. Can't forget to mention they always had Cathoula Cur dogs, the last one with her was Lucy, who stayed in the house with her always under her feet. She and Doug filled a void in my life the last several years, loved it when I could go and see them. They told me stories of they younger days and stories about my Dad, sometimes it would be the same one again, but loved to hear them told. Always made me feel at home and when it was time to go back south, they wanted to know when I was coming back. Joy Gunter Born in Oak Grove. Visitation: Monday, Apr. 1, 2013 Service: Tuesday, Apr. 2, 2013 Cemetery: Oak Grove Cemetery Oak Grove,LA Cox Funeral Home Oak Grove, LA Funeral services for Joy Gunter, age 80, of Oak Grove, Louisiana, will be 2PM, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Cox Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Ray officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 5PM - 8PM at Cox Funeral Home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Huey P. "Doug" Gunter; daughter, Patricia Gunter; parents, Joseph Janes and Mildred Shelton Janes. Joy is survived by her son, Ernie Gunter of Oak Grove, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Travis Gunter of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Stacy Gunter Miller of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Dustin Gunter of Lincoln, California; three great-grandchildren, Mason Miller and Matthew Miller, both of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Benjamin Gunter of Lincoln, California; sister, Angela Pippens of Oak Grove, Louisiana.
