Born in the village of Popovice, town of Ivancice, county of Brno, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). '''''''''''' Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), July 4, 1929, p. 4, col. 2 JACOB SOUKUP Jacob Soukup, 81-years of age, resident of east Butler county for nearly fifty years, passed away at the home of his son, Jacob C. Soukup, three miles south of Brainard, last Thursday June 27. He had been in failing health for the past two years, his last illness being of a weeks duration. He was born in Popovide, Moravia, on July 16, 1848. There he grew to manhood and was united in marriage to Miss Mary Weverka. Several years later they immigrated to America, residing for a few years in Omaha and then moved to Butler county. Here they resided on various farms until several years ago when they retired and moved to Dwight. Mrs. Soukup preceded her husband in death seven years ago. They are survived by five sons John, Joseph, Jacob, Frank and Thomas all of this vicinity and also one daughter, Miss Mary, who resides with her brother John. Two children, one daughter and one son died in childhood. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Holy Trinity church in Brainard conducted by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Klein and burial was in the Brainard Catholic Cemetery.
