Surviving relatives include a sister, Mrs. Frank Kabka of Omaha. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 7 o'clock from the Hoffmann mortuary, and the body will be taken to Brainard, Neb., where burial will be held after rites in the Catholic church there. ''''''''''''''' The Brainard Clipper , August 10, 1933, p. 1, col. 3 THOMAS SOUKUP PASSES AWAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS Thomas Soukup died at the home of his cousin, Mrs. Frank Kavka, in Omaha, Tuesday evening and the remains were brought to Brainard for burial this (Thursday) morning. Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Catholic church at 10 o’clock conducted by Rt. Rev. Mgr. Klein and interment was in the Catholic cemetery beside his parents and a brother, Anton who preceded him. He was 34 years of age and the cause of his death was multiple sclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Thomas Soukup was born June 19, 1899, on a farm near Dwight and lived in that community all his life, until becoming invalided when he was taken to Omaha for treatment and care. He suffered a gradual paralytic condition following an attack of influenza some eight or nine years ago and for the past seven years has been gradually growing worse. He is survived by four brothers, Jacob, John, Frank and Joseph and a sister, Mary, all of the Brainard and Dwight communities, and a daughter, Darleen, of Brainard.
