Bio

NORTH LOUP--Adolph K. Kokes, 82, of North Loup, died Thursday at his farm home near North Loup. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord with the Revs. Stanley Gorak and Paul Wachrtle officiating. Burial will be in Ord Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Kokes was born June 6, 1897, in Valley County, to John and Barbara Petska Kokes. He grew up on the family farm and attended Plain Valley rural school and Spalding Academy. He married Helen Hrdy on Sept. 24, 1926, in Ord. They farmed in the North Loup area. She died in 1967. He married Mary Blaha on May 5?, 1969 at Ord. Mr. Kokes was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic parish in Ord. Survivors include his widow; a son, Robert of North Loup; a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Everton of Rapid City, S.D.; nine sisters, Mrs. Agnes Stone of Vail, Ore., Mrs. Louise Cross of Hemet, Calif., Mrs. Clara Blaha of Ord, Helen Kokes and Mrs. Rose Elmquist, both of Omaha, Mrs. Florence Sights of Bufford, Ga.; Mrs. Lillian Keller of Bozeman, Mont., Mrs. Betty Wornell of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Ordeana Briggs of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Ted of Buhl, Idaho, Dick of Hemet, Calif., and E. R. Kokes of Ord; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. The Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent - Sun, Apr 27 1980
