Born in the village of Strejckovice, town of Prestice, county of Plzen, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Settled in Butler County, Nebr. in 1873. '''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), March 9, 1916, p. 10, col. 4 & 5 Bruno John Proskovec, for many years a resident of Bruno, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Hlavac, a few days ago after illness of but 2½ days. Death was due to rupture. He was in his 89th year. Born in Bohemia October 28, 1827, he lived there until 1873, when he came to the United States with his family. He was married in Bohemia in 1851 to Miss Mary Kastl. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Proskovec, eight of whom are living. After all their children were married Mr. and Mrs. Proskovec sold their home twenty-nine years ago and came to live with their daughter, Mrs. Hlavac. Mr. Proskovec was robust in health all his life until three years ago when in a fall he had a hip dislocated. Mrs. Prokosvec survives her husband. The children who are living are Mrs. Marguerite Hlavac and Mrs. John Janovy of Bruno, Mrs. Sobolik of Abie, Mrs. Benesch of Octavia and Mrs. Viglicky and James, John and Anton Prokovec of Bruno and vicinity. There are a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The funeral services were conduted by Rev. Father Zalud and the singing was by the Bruno Catholic church choir. The pall-bearers were Edward Odvoda, Frank Husak, Edward Jindrick, Louis Laudenklos and Louis Kozisek, all sons-in-law of Mrs. Hlavac. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.
