Logansport Pharos Tribune & Press, October 11, 1974, page 2 CLARA NEWGENT RITES SATURDAY MONTICELLO--Mrs. Clara Newgent, 83, formerly of Monticello, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Walkerton Nursing Home, Walkerton. Born in Tippecanoe County, Dec. 17, 1890, she was the daughter of James and Katherine Morris Burks. She was married Oct. 2, 1909, to Joseph S. Newgent, who died in 1952. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Katherine Kontos, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Eva Mae Seward, South Bend; Mrs. Nellie Long and Mrs. Margaret Swing, both of Plymouth; and Mrs. Mary Putt, Waukegan, Ill.; four sons, James and Donald, both of Walkerton; Wilbur, South Bend; and Charles, Monticello; one brother, Wilbur, Monon; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Brownell, Mrs. Florence Mull, and Mrs. Virginia Toombs, all of Monticello; and Mrs. Mildred Morris, Indianapolis; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stewart Funeral Home in Monon, with the Rev. Willis Maugans officiating. Burial will be in the Bedford Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday. Funeral arrangments are being handled by the Aufenburg Funeral Home of Monticello.
