Service for Miss Catherine McGowan conducted February 9. Funeral services for Miss Catherine M. McGowan, 84, of David City, were held Wednesday morning, Feb 9, from St. Mary's Catholic Church. Miss McGowan died Saturday, Feb 5, at the David City Hospital, following a short illness. The concelebrated mass was conducted by Msgr. A. J. Lisko, Rev. J.C. Rasumssen and Rev. Paul Rutten. Mass commentators were John J. Kosch and Richard Polak. Gift bearers were Sister M. Clothiare and Greg and Dan Kosch. The Catholic Daughters attended in a body. Pallbearers were Lee Snell, Ben Reisdorff, Phil Schlentz, Ray Smith, J.G. Svoboda and J.N. Norton. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Relatives from out of tow attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. John Perkins and Mrs. Jack Cook and daughter of Kimball, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dalton and family of Scottsbluff, Mrs. J.C. McGowan of Grand Island, and Mr. and Mrs. John Kosch and family of Columbus and Bernard McGowan of Denver, Mary McGowan of Boulder and Mrs. Gary Greve and daughter of Rapid City, S.D., Sister M. Clotharie (Kosch) of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Don LaRocque of Riverside, Ill., Mrs. Dick Kohl of Joliet, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Clarke of Sidney. Catherine M., the daughter of Michael and Mary (Shields) McGowan, was born Jan. 31, 1888, on a homestead north of Rising City. She attendee Butler County schools, moving to David City with her parents in 1922. She was a member of the Catholic Church, a charter member of the Catholic daughters of America court here, Ingleside club and St. Mary's Extension Club. She is survived by four nephews, Paul and Arthur Kosch of David City, John J Kosch of Columbus and Bernard McGowan of Denver; four nieces, Sister M. Clothaire, O.SF., of Chicago, Mrs. John Perkins of Kimball, Mrs. James Dalton of Scottsbluff and Mary McGowan of Boulder, Colo.; 21 great grandnieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Henry L. and J.C. McGowan, and two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Loretta) Kosch and Anna McGowan.
