Funeral Service held Monday for Miss Anna Isabell McGowan, 84. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church here Monday Oct. 3, for Anna Isabell McGowan, 84, who died at Mount Carmel Home in Kearney on Thursday, Sept. 29. St. Mary's Choir provided the music. pallbearers were Clair Brannen, George P. Litjen, John Mulligan, Ben Reisdorff, Theodore Rutten and Lee Snell. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Anna Isabell McGowan, daughter of Michael and Mary Ann Shields McGowan, was born May 11, 1882, in Wilton Center, Ill. She attended Butler county rural schools. Columbus High School and Fremont Normal College. She moved to Butler county as a small child and resided here all her life. She was a rural school teacher in Butler, Dodge and Nuckolis counties. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Samaritan Club, Missionary Association of Catholic Women. She is survived by one sister, Catherine M. McGowan of David City; eight nieces and nephews; one aunt, Miss Kathryn Shields of Joliet, Ill. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death ***note a sister also preceded her in death***. Members of the PCCW attended the services in a body. Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. John McGowan of Grand Island, Bernard McGowan of Denver, Colo., Mrs. James Dalton, Barbara and Beverly of Scottsbluff and Mrs. John Perkins of Kimball.
