Bio

Lodema Alice Romine, daughter of William Thomas and Susan Romine was born at Blandinsville, Illinois, Dec. 20, 1875, and died at the Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, Mo., August 17, 1947, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 28 days. When she was 10 years of age, she moved by covered wagon with her parents to near Palisade, Nebr., where they made their home. On Feb. 15, 1894 she was married with William R. Boswell and in the spring of 1897 they moved to Holt county, Missouri, where they made their home for the balance of their lives. To this union five children were born. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Claire Stevenson of Palisade; four sons, Perry, Ray, Gilbert, and Faye of near New Point, Mo.; two brothers, Lon and Beauford Romine of Palisade; one sister, Mrs. J.C. Hardy of Loveland, Colo.; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also many other relatives and a host of friends. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death. At an early age she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and became a Christian. She was a member of the New Point Christian Church of which she continued to be an active and faithful member until her death. She will always be remembered by those who really knew her, by her deeds of kindness and jolly nature and as a person who enjoyed giving and making others happy. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the New Point Christian Church with Rev. Logan C. Dunham of Maitland officiating. Burial was in the New Point cemetery. Relatives from here attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Claire Stevenson and Mary Lou, Lon Romine, Keith Romine and Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Harris; and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Hardy of Loveland, Colo., and Mrs. Hettie Bedford of Stratton. (Published in The Palisade Times, August 29, 1947; courtesy of contributor Steven Hardy)
