Susan C. Lefler was born in Anderson county, Kentucky, May 22, 1846, and she died April 16, 1923. She was married to W.T. Romine on April 27, 1865. They moved to Illinois in 1872, and from there to Hitchcock County, Nebraska in 1885. Mrs. Romine confessed her Savior at an early age and lived a true and faithful Christian life. She was a loving mother and a faithful wife. She leaves to mourn her loss, her aged husband and seven children. Two of her children preceded her to the happy land. Those surviving are Fannie Bush, Palisade, Lizzie Hardy, Stratton, Lodemia Boswell, New Ponit, Missouri, Dora Thomas, Littleton, Colorado, Archie and Beauford Romine of Palisade. Thirty grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, besides many loving friends and neighbors. "Pioneer at Rest" - Mrs. W.T. Romine passed to rest Monday morning after many, many months of illness. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. L.S. Terry of Wauneta, and the remains laid to rest in the Miles cemetery southwest of Palisade.
