Mr. W.T. Romine was born in Nelson county, Kentucky, August 27, 1841, and died at his daughter's home, Mrs. Art Bush of Palisade, May 22, 1924, at the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 22 days. He was married to Susan Lefler, April 27, 1865, who preceded him to the better land April 16, 1923. They moved to Illinois in 1872, and from there to Hitchcock County in 1885. Mr. Romine confessed the savior at an early age and lived a true and faithful Christian life. He was a loving husband and father. He leaves to mourn his loss seven children and four sisters, also one brother. Those surviving him are Fannie Bush, Palisade; Lizzie Hardy, Stratton; Lodemia Boswell, New Point, Missouri; Medora Thomas, Littleton, Colorado; Arch, Lon, and Beauford Romine, of Palisade; thirty grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, besides many loving friends left to mourn his loss. Two of his grandchildren preceded him to the happy land. "Pioneer at Rest" - Funeral services for the late W.T. Romine, pioneer of Hitchcock County, were held Saturday morning at the Church of Christ and were conducted by Elder Terry of Wauneta, a warm friend of the deceased. Elder Jones assisted in the service. The church was filled with friends and neighbors of the deceased who gathered to pay the last tribute to the friend of many years.
