Brainard, Apr 17- Martin Riha, who died at his home in Brainard at 3:45 Pm Friday, April 13th, 1923, after illness of 8 weeks with diabetes, had lived in Butler County for 49 years. Coming here fro the East in 1874, he located in Skull Creek township, 5 1/2 miles Northeast of David City and resided there until 1911, then moved to Center Township. Seven years ago, he retired from farm life and moved to Brainard, March 7, 1916. Mr. Riha was aged 67 years. He was born November 11, 1856, on the Atlantic Ocean, the day before his parents landed in New York. ** DISCREPANCY On his immigration record, it says he was born 30 Aug 1855 a boy, father is Martin Rziha. In 1875, the year after he came to Butler County, he was married to Anna Zeman, who survives him. He also leaves 2 daughters, and one son, Mrs. Mary Horacek, Mrs. Anna Rech, and Frank Riha of Brainard, one brother, Thomas Riha of Dwight, and 2 sisters; Mrs. Anton Bruner and Mrs. Anton Styskal, of David City. One daughter, Mrs. Veronica Urbanovsky, died in 1915. Rev. Father Paroulek, of Weston conducted the funeral services, which were held in the ZCBJ hall in Brainard Sunday afternoon, April 15th at 2 o'clock. John Bruner, Joseph Bruner, Anton Riha, Frank Riha, Adolph Riha, and Anton F. Styskal were pallbearers. Burial was in the Bohemian Cemetery at Brainard.
