The Banner-Press (David City, Nebraska) 30 Apr 1953, Thu Page 4 Last Rites Held Sunday For James Haba James Haba passed away Thursday, Apr. 23, at the David City Nursing Home at the age of 81 years and four months. Funeral services were held Sunday, Apr. 26 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Byers Funeral Home with the Rev. Mearl C. Smith conducting. James Haba was born in Czechoslovakia, December 24, 1871 and came to America with his parents when two years of age. The family settled in Omaha, later moving to a farm near Prague. He was married to Drahomira Dvorak in 1898. The couple lived on a farm near Bruno. Two sons and a daughter were born to them, all of whom survive. Retiring from farm life they moved to Bruno, where Mrs. Haba died in 1938. Mr. Haba was a member of the Presbyterian church. He is survived by his two sons, Ernest and Adolph of Bruno, a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Clara) Kavan, of Morse Bluff, two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Machan of Wisconsin and Mrs. Mary Kaplan of Morse Bluff, a brother, Joseph, of Prague, and five grandchildren. Interment was in the Bruno National cemetery.
