The Banner-Press (David City, Nebraska) 12 Mar 1981, Thu Page 20 Services for Ernest Haba Conducted Here Saturday Funeral services for Ernest E. Haba, 81, were conducted Saturday morning, March 7, from the Knott Funeral Home in David City. Rev. Donald Proett officiated. Ernest Haba, the son of James and Drahomira Dvorak Haba, was born on a farm near Bruno on Aug. 6, 1899. He grew to manhood on his father's farm. He received all his formal education in Butler County rural schools and at Bruno High School. On June 2, 1931, he was united in marriage with Helen Chaloupka in Wilber. One daughter, Virginia, was born to this union. They farmed north of Bruno for many years until they purchased their retirement home in David City. Mr. Haba died Thursday, March 5, in a Lincoln hospital where he had been transferred from Butler County Hospital after he was burned by hot water at his home here. He is survived by his wife, Helen, a resident of David Place, and his daughter, Virginia, of Lincoln. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, and a brother.
