PICKERILL, GEORGE FORREST—George Forrest Pickerill, son of John William and Mary Elizabeth Pickerill, was born in Geneva, Neb., June 13, 1884. He passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. O. A. Merrill, in Geneva, January 16, 1944. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Ethel Haney March 22, 1921. To this union was born one son, George Jr. Practically his entire life was spent in and around Fillmore county, where he had a host of friends and neighbors. He was a kind and loving father, not only to his own son, but to his three step-children and four little grandchildren, whom he regarded as his own. He led an active life until two years ago when a heart stroke forced him into retirement. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Ethel, his son, George Jr., serving in the United States Navy in Maryland, Three step-children, Mrs. Reno Weis of Geneva, Max Haney of Buffalo, N. Y., Mrs. Royal Cruse of Oakland, Cal., and four grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. O. A. Merrill of Geneva, Mrs. Herbert Madison of Roscoe, Neb., and Mrs. Venice Hafer of Torrance, Cal., also one foster aunt, Mrs. George Fanning of Lincoln. Funeral services were held at the Hrubesky funeral home in Geneva at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday, January 19, Rev. W. B. Pardun officiated. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
