Bio

Seward Independent-Democrat (Seward, Nebr.), March 19, 1925, p. 7, col. 4 BEE Mr. John Tomandl passed away at his home northwest of town Thursday night, March 12. Mr. Tomandl had the grippe several weeks ago, but had gotten better and able to be up and around the house, but a week ago Thursday he took a relapse and never recovered. He will be greatly missed as he was always jovial and happy and a friend to everyone. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Helen Sobotka of Seward, Marie, Anna and Lucile at home, and three young sons John, Stanley and baby Richard; also a father living at Dwight, two brothers, Cyril of Merna and Frank of Bee, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Makovicka of this place, and a host of friends. His funeral was held from the Catholic church at Bee with interment in the cemetery at Dwight, beside four little children who have preceded him a number of years ago. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the whole community. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Seward Independent-Democrat, April 9, 1925, p. 3, col. 5 & 6 OBITUARY John Tomandl was born in Rouchovany, Moravia, May 14, 1877, and died March 12, 1925. He came to America with his parents when fourteen years of age and settled on a farm near Brainard where he resided for about ten years, when he moved to a farm north of Bee. He was married to Miss Antonia Maixner January 21, 1901. To this union were born eleven children, the first four dying in infancy. There is left to mourn his untimely death, his wife, four daughters, three sons and one grandson, all of whom remain at home, but Mrs. Helen Sobotka, an aged father and mother, of Dwight, two brothers, Cyril, of Merna, and Frank, of Bee; one sister, Mrs. Marie Makovicka, also of Bee, still survive, besides a host of friends. He was a jovial, social, public-spirited man and never so happy as when surrounded by his family and friends or helping in some public entertainment. His funeral was held Sunday, March 15, at the Catholic church at Bee and interment was made at the Dwight cemetery. ______ CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our thanks for the many acts of kindness and sympathy shown during the illness and death of our husband and father and for the beautiful flowers.
