Born in the village of Rouchovany, town of Hrotovice, county of Znojmo, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic), the son of Joseph and Isabell (Kostelicky) Tomandl. Married (2) Mrs. Mary Zaklasnik on October 4, 1892 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Abie, Nebr. ''''''''''''''''''''''''' . Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), December 5, 1927, p. 1, col. 7 Had Lived in County 38 Years. Dwight, Nov. 29 – Frank Tomandl, Sr., who died at his home in Dwight on November 19, in his 77th year, had been a resident of Butler county 38 years. Born in Bohemia October 4, 1851, he was married there to Caroline Novak, and came to America in 1889, settling at Brainard. In 1896 he moved on a farm north of Dwight, where he lived until 1904, when he retired from farming and moved to Dwight. In 1891 Mrs. Tomandl died and in 1893 Mr. Tomandl married a second time. He is survived by his wife and three children, Frank Tomandl, Jr., of Seward, Mrs. Mary Makovicka, living north of Seward, and Cyrill Tomandl of Merna. John Tomandl, the eldest on, died at his home near Bee a few years ago. Funeral services for Frank Tomandl, Sr., were held in the Dwight Catholic church Monday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m. Interment was in the Dwight Catholic cemetery. ____ col. 4 Card of Thanks – To all those who were so kind during the sickness and death of our husband and father, and for the floral offerings presented, we desire to express our sincere thanks.
