The Banner-Press (David City, Nebraska) 16 Mar 1995, Thu Page 21 Joseph Pavel Joseph Robert Pavel was born to Vaclav and Anna Novak Pavel on Feb. 19, 1898, near Dwight, and died on March 9, 1995, at Seward. Mr. Pavel attended school at Dwight and farmed with his father and brothers. He was united in marriage to Clara Martha Hotovy at Assumption Catholic Church, Dwight on Oct. 18, 1921. They lived on a farm near Garland, in Dwight for five years and farmed near Staplehurst for many years. A retired farmer, he was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Seward and the Co-ops of Seward, Staplehurst, Garland, Tamora and Utica. For the past three years, he has been a resident of Sundermann West Home in Seward. He leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Evelyn Pavel of Staplehurst; daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Alois Hotovy of Brainard, Margaret and Adolph Spatz of Bee, Leona and Anthony DiPaolo of Lincoln, Angela and Kenneth Klein of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Marcella and Donald Stava of Weston; a son-in-law Leo Rau of Phoenix, AZ; 30 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. His parents, wife, Clara, who died in 1965; a son, Joe, a daughter, Anne Rau; three brothers, Jim, Frank and Alois, who died in infancy and a sister, Rose Kobza preceded him in death. Services for Mr. Pavel, 97, were conducted Monday morning, March 13, from St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward. Burial was in Assumption Cemetery at Dwight. Suggested edit: Married Clara M.
