Seward Independent (Seward, Nebr.), December 23, 1942, p. 1, col. 2 Funeral Services Tuesday For Matej Jisa Funeral services were held at the Assumption church in Dwight on Tuesday, with Rev. B. Bauer in charge, over the remains of Matej Jisa who died early Saturday morning at the age of 87 years. Burial was in the Dwight cemetery. The deceased came to Nebraska in 1900 [sic], and had resided here ever since. He is survived by his wife and eight children. Mrs. Antonia Kozicek of Seward is a daughter. ''''''''''''''''''''''' The Peoples Banner (David City, Nebr.), December 31, 1942, p. 4, col. 3 OBITUARY The community was grieved Saturday, December 19th when informed of the death of Maty Jisa Sr., a farmer in this community for many years. He had been ailing for five years and died at his home to which they had recently moved. He was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was married to Frantiska Komenda June 20th, 1887 in Wahoo, Nebraska. His sons, Frank and Emil preceded him in death. He is survived by six sons namely: Joe of Dwight; John of Ulysses; Louis of David City; Charley of Oklahoma; Mike of Dwight; Albert of Dwight and two daughters: Mrs. Mary Kozisek and Toney Kozisek; also surviving are 33 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Joan Lucille Filipi of Rosemond, Calif.; and Jean Ann Jisa of Dwight. Maty Jisa was a devout Catholic and funeral services were from Assumption Church at Dwight at 9:30 with Rev. Benedict Bauer, O. S. B., conducting the services. The school choir sang the requiem and interment was in Assumption cemetery. Pallbearers were Staff Sgt. Ladislav Jisa, Frank Jisa, Richard Kozisek, Emil Jisa, Leonard Jisa and Adolph Jisa. From away for the funeral were George Masek and son of Valparaiso; Adolph Komenda of Brainard; Jerold Ruziska, Regina Hadelk, Charley Jisa Jr. and Leonard Jisa all of Polk, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Jos Jirovsky Jr. and Sr. of Valparaiso. ____ CARD OF THANKS We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who so kindly assisted us in the loss of our dear father and for the spiritual offerings and consoling words, especially to Rev.
