Bio

Katerina Trousil, age 71, died Friday morning, March 31, 1933 at the home of her daughter, Christine Vavra, near Gresham. Mrs. Trousil was bedfast for a month. Funeral services were held at 10:30 o'clock Monday, April 3, from St. Mary's Assumption Church, Dwight, with Rev. Benedict Bauer serving the Requiem Mass. Pallbearers were Mrs. Trousil's son John Trousil, and five sons-in-law, Joseph Soukup, Joseph Matulka, Charles Trouba, August Matulka and Anton Vavra. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Dwight, beside the grave of her husband. Mrs. Trousil was a devout Catholic, a faithful mother and friend, and highly thought of in the different communities in which she lived. She was born in West Kewaunee, Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, July 12, 1862, daughter of Mike and Mary Jisa, receiving her education and growing to young womanhood there. At the age of 17 years, she married Frank Trousil, who preceded her in death November 26, 1929. In 1882, Mr. and Mrs. Trousil moved to Wahoo, Nebraska from Wisconsin. In 1885, they moved to Holt county, where they remained for eight years, then returning to a farm near Weston, later moving to Bee. Upon retiring from the farm in 1917, they moved to Dwight, where they lived until the death of Mr. Trousil, since which time Mrs. Trousil has made her home with her children. Surviving are a son, John Trousil of Bee, and seven daughters, Anna Cihal of Ulysses, Frances Soukup of Dwight, Rose Matulka of Ulysses, Mary Matulka of Staplehurst, Emilie Trouba of David City, Christine Vavra of Gresham, and Pauline Vampola of Dwight. She also is survived by two brothers, Mike Jisa of Dwight and Joseph Jisa of Lincoln.
