Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Sep. 8, 1988 Services for Joe Kocurek, who died Friday at Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, were held Saturday, Sept. 3, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Chapel under the direction of Rev. Sam Douglass. Interment followed at Gonzales Memorial Park. Kocurek was born July 13, 1918 in Gonzales county to Henry Joe Kocurek and Mary Hrncirik Kocurek. He married the former Ruby Pendergast in Seguinon June 1, 1946. The couple made their home in Gonzales. Kocurek a 22 year Air Force veteran served during World War II and the Korean War. Following his retirement from the service, he was employed for 17 years as a state capitol policeman in Austin. He was a member of the First Baptist Church here as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
