''''''''''''''''''''''''''' The Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), December 27, 1923, p. 1, col. 5 Mrs. Hamsa Passes Away Mrs. Frank Hamas of near Gresham, died at the York hospital on Thursday morning, Dec. 20th at 11:30, the cause of her death being heart trouble. Antonia Hromas was born in Saunders County near Weston on Jan. 10, 1878 where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Mr. Frank Hamsa, at Plasi, on April 1899. They became the parents of five children, one daughter and four sons all of whom are living; they are Mary, Mrs. John Novacek of Dwight and James, Frank, Joseph and Jakie, all at home. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hamsa lived for three years in Saunders County, then moving to Dwight they lived there for five years, then they moved to Brainard residing here until the spring of 1918 when they moved to their farm one mile west of Gresham. Mrs. Hamsa had been suffering for over a year with heart trouble and was in a serious condition for over four months, being unable to sleep at all for the last seven weekws. Her condition having become critical she was taken to the hospital at York on Monday, Dec. 17, where she passed away three days later. She was 45 years 11 months and 10 days of age. Besides her husband and children the deceased leaves to mourn her departure her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Hromas and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Petrzilka and Mrs. Frank Soukup all of Brainard besides many friends. A kind, gentle and patient wife and mother and a good loyal Catholic woman, Mrs. Hamsa will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and their hearts go out in sympathy to the bereaved family in this dark time of sorrow. Funeral services were held on Saturday morning at the Hamsa home by Rev. Father Wagner of Shelby, and at 10 o'clock in the Catholic church in Dwight conducted by Rev. Father Pazourek. Six members of the order of the Knights of St. George of Brainard were the pall bearers and ladies of our Society of St. Ludmila of Brainard of which deceased had been a loyal member for many years were present in a body and followed the remains to their last resting place in the Dwight Catholic cemetery. __ CARD OF THANKS We are thankful to our many friends for their kind sympathy and assistance at this time of our bereavement in the loss of our best friend, our dear wife and mother.
